With the permission of State Parks, Friends of Gilroy Hot Springs creates, schedules, and promotes activities and events at Gilroy Yamato Hot Springs. All activities raise funds to fulfill the FOGHS purpose to protect, preserve, and restore public access to Gilroy Hot Springs.

The late Frank Schiavo (ret. professor emeritus, San Jose State University, and "green pioneer") suggested a 4-tier access plan while restoration takes place:

  1. Walk-In Visitors: day visitors for picnics, in lower, "non-historic" area after caretaker is on site;
  2. Guided tours: through "historic area", scheduled between Special Events;
  3. Special events: group events including but not limited to school tours, private parties, fundraising events;
  4. Volunteer and Community Rewards: activities on site that reward or reciprocate volunteer and community contributions toward the protection, preservation, and restoration efforts.

Most of the inquiries we receive ask about soaking opportunities in the still flowing hot mineral water, and we are the closest mineral spring to Silicon Valley. We are able to respond in these ways:
